Eta Mu is dedicated to our national philanthropy of Breast Cancer Education and Awareness!
Each fall, we host a week of fun events and fundraisers known as Pink Week.
Pink Week is full of PINK, Breast Cancer Education & Awareness, and fun.
We also volunteer every October at The Miracle Mile in Downtown Augusta, GA.
In the past in the springtime, we would host our annual Strike Out Breast Cancer Bowling Tournament.
In 2014, our chapter raised a little over $16,000 which bumped Eta Mu up to over $25,000 for the biennium for 2013 and 2014 which had never been done before. In the spring of 2015 we raised a little over $20,000!!!
This is the most that Eta Mu has ever raised from a single event for the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation.
In Spring 2017, we raised over $5,000 towards Breast Cancer Education and Awareness by selling strawberries. The strawberries are grown on a farm in Florida then transported to Augusta for pickup/delivery.
We hope to raise more more in the future towards our philanthropy.
We love to promote Breast Cancer Education and Awareness throughout our community.
During Pink Week of 2015 we hosted a cookout for students on campus, prepared and served a breakfast for all the faculty to show our appreciation, showcased our second annual Big Man On Campus, and participated in a Chick-fil-a percentage night.
During Pink Week of 2017, we hosted a pink out, served pancakes at the pancake dinner, handed out free Chick-Fil-A at the pink picnic, played in the dodgeball tournament, and held a 1 in 8 to Educate event.
The 1 in 8 to Educate event recognized cancer survivors while also educating about breast cancer.
In November 2017, we held out first annual Pink 5k Run.
We raised over..... $18,000 towards our philanthropy!
This included donations, sponsorships, and runner registration fees.
At all of our events we hand out our little pink ribbons to spread awareness.
Look for these ribbons all over campus, at all times during the year.
There are many other service projects that we like to participate in throughout the year.
We utilize some of our weekly chapter meetings to look for more service opportunities and write letters to the Children's Hospital of Georgia and the men and women at the other various hospitals in Augusta and the nursing homes around town.
We also love to support our local fire departments and take them leftover food from our cookout during pink week.
Eta Mu loves to support our community in any way we can, and we always have a great time doing it!
